New Zealand Glassworks -Te Whare Tūhua o Te Ao

Allowing the community to experience the creative process first-hand, New Zealand Glassworks provides a memorable experience like no other.

New Zealand Glassworks -Te Whare Tūhua o Te Ao (NZG) is a dynamic and creative hub, deep in the heart of Whanganui’s tourism precinct; a place of high creative energy which encourages community involvement and pride and a vibrant centre for artists to learn, make, sell and be inspired.

It is the first national centre for community glass in the country and is helping to unify the already established community of glass artists in Whanganui and New Zealand.

New Zealand Glassworks is an exciting and interactive glass facility open to the community. Check their online calendar to see who might be working on the day of your visit or when the next scheduled workshop will be running.

Formerly named Chronicle Glass, New Zealand Glassworks is facilitating the ongoing presence and development of glass art education, making and presentation in Whanganui.

This city’s appreciation and support for this unique and desirable art form has flourished and the future is bright. NZ Glassworks provides hot shop/cold working and kiln hire facilities to established artists whilst also hosting dynamic and inclusive community experiences, short course workshops, professional international workshops and exhibitions.
