Start your day off right with whatever charges you up: a jolt of caffeine or a hearty brunch.
We take our café culture seriously, and you’ll be hard pressed to find a bad cup of coffee in Whanganui. If you’re looking to relax over a great cup of coffee in the heart of our creative scene, grab a seat at the big table at Article on Saturday morning.
As well as making a darn good coffee, Elixir is a fabulous juice and smoothie bar. They use locally sourced ingredients as much as possible, so you know your drink is super fresh.
Need a little sweet to go with your coffee? The Burrow is a gourmet deli and fine purveyor of French pastries. Their almond croissants are to die for. On a Saturday morning, you can also find fresh baked cinnamon scrolls at the Cinnemonui stall at the River Traders Market.
Fuel up for a big day of activities with a big brunch. There are some great options.
There’s nothing like a view over the river to help you ease your way into the day. Mud Ducks by the i-SITE has a long outdoor deck, as well as a very stylish interior, with a good range of cabinet food and menu items.
Caroline’s Boatshed Bar and Eatery does a classic brekkie menu with river views from the deck. Set in a charming villa, The Yellow House is close to the riverside walking and cycle path. The first Sunday of every month is the Petrolhead’s brekkie so you’ll also get a look at some vintage cars.
High-Kut Bistro on Victoria Ave is a bistro place for a great brunch or lunch. Delicious mocktails and a great kids’ menu too.
Cuban Belle does a fantastic Latin American brunch, with an art gallery attached.
