Delaney Davidson returns to the stage in Whanganui with Baby Heavyweight, his 11th solo album and one of his most expansive releases to date. Born in a kitchen in Switzerland and created in collaboration with Merk (Mark Perkins), the album builds on the smooth depth of Out Of My Head, moving into more groove‑driven, emotionally rich territory.

Across 13 tracks, Davidson inhabits the roles of shaman, trickster and storyteller, exploring themes of trauma, love, loss, cynicism and redemption. A strong narrative thread runs through the album, drawing on universal ideas of identity, resilience, and coming to terms with the stories we carry.

This July, Delaney Davidson brings Baby Heavyweight to life in Whanganui, performing with a full band featuring Heather Webb, Cass Basil, Alex Freer and Ryan Fisherman. Supported by NZ On Air and the NZ Music Commission, this national tour offers a rare opportunity to experience one of Aotearoa’s most distinctive musicians live, in an intimate concert setting.
