E rere kau mai te Āwanui, Mai i te Kāhui maunga ki Tangaroa. Kō au te Āwa, kō te Āwa kō au.
This city is all about great moods. If you’re digging the Whanganui vibes, check out these atmospheric eateries.
The beating heart of our creative scene. This is a serious scene on Saturday mornings. Get a coffee, something from the cabinet, browse the vintage clothing, check out the local art and chat with a local at the big table.
The beating heart of our beachside suburb, the Citadel is a destination in its own right. The vision behind the Citadel’s origins was to create a community hub. They have definitely delivered in terms of developing a welcoming culture, a vibey whatever, funky décor, lush garden and kids’ play area.
Cleverly developed between two alleyways, Maria Lane is a seriously cool spot, very stylish, small plates menu and some other stuff. Live music sometimes, cocktails and mocktails.
Located down an alley, you’ll feel a bit cool just for finding it. The enclosed alley has a funky, vibrant airy feel to it, open air dining all year round. Built around 1919/20 (the courtyard was covered in the 1980s), this is a very classic meets cool feel to the whole place.
One of our city’s hippest bars, this is a very welcoming, chill spot where you’ll see all sorts of people. Play some shuffleboard, competition is fierce. An ever changing tap of craft beers, great snack, a big ol fridge full of options. Sofas, tables, relaxed and welcoming.
Food with soul & coffee with attitude, they’ve got it going on at Mischief! Healthy food to energise your day, call in and feel inspired.
