The Kellogg Rural Leadership programme is coming to Whanganui

Develop the skills and confidence to lead change in Manawatū-Whanganui

As part of Whanganui & Partners’ mission to nurture the growth of Whanganui’s people and the businesses they work in, the agency is partnering with the New Zealand Rural Leadership Trust to deliver the Kellogg Rural Leadership Programme. This highly regarded programme is coming to Whanganui in May.

The partnership aims to help build food and fibre leadership capability in Whanganui, and beyond. The programme is designed to build our rural leadership capability. This is an opportunity to shoulder-tap someone on your team, or someone in your network, for leadership development – those keen to step up as agri-sector leaders of change.

Whether farmer, forester, fisher, grower, or agri-business professional, the programme is designed to develop an individual’s leadership style, grow their agri-networks, and enable them to contribute more meaningfully to community, business, and industry.

There’s a lot to gain from a Kellogg.

  • The confidence and support to take on more leadership responsibility
  • New networks and exposure to industry leaders and influencers
  • The leadership skills and tools to apply to business and industry
  • Greater understanding of the political and economic environment, and New Zealand’s agri-business and agri-food sectors
  • Develop the critical thinking skills and awareness to lead change

Recent Kellogg Scholars had plenty of praise for the programme:

“Some of the country’s top leaders in their fields have given me insights into the significant issues facing agriculture, how decisions are made, and how to influence.”

Stephen Ball, 2021 Scholar

“I have been pushed outside my comfort zone numerous times throughout the course. This has helped me grow both personally and professionally. It opened my eyes and often challenged my views and thinking.”

Rachel Weal, 2021 Scholar

Key dates:

The programme runs from 3 May to 21 October and is divided into three phases to better fit with work and other commitments. Applications close Sunday, 13 March.
